Chattanooga, TN (Sports Network) - Josh Davis poured in a game-high 30 points and collected seven rebounds to lead the Samford Bulldogs to a 78-54 victory over the Chattanooga Mocs in a Southern Conference tilt at McKenzie Arena.

Jeffrey Merritt added 13 points and grabbed six boards in the win for Samford (10-15, 4-9 SoCon), while Trey Montgomery finished with 10 points.

Ty Patterson scored 15 points to lead the way for Chattanooga (13-13, 5-8), while Keegan Bell tallied 11 points in the losing effort. Ricky Taylor and Chris Early got into the mix as well, registering 10 points apiece.

The Mocs were held to just 36.4 percent shooting from the field during the opening frame, allowing Samford to take a 38-32 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Bulldogs buried an outstanding 75.0 percent of their attempts from the floor to earn a 24-point victory.

The Mocs shot at a mere 29.5 percent clip from the floor in the contest. Samford, on the other hand, hit on 61.0 percent of its chances from the field and 15-of-24 from downtown.
