Cape Girardeau, MO (Sports Network) - Josh Taylor scored 18 points to lead the Eastern Kentucky Colonels to a 59-56 win over the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Show Me Center.

Justin Stommes added 14 points for EKU (18-8, 10-4 OVC), while Josh Daniel chipped in with 12 points in the win.

SEMO (7-18, 3-11) was paced by Anthony Allison who scored a game-high 20 points in a losing effort. Jajuan Maxwell also added nine points and seven rebounds off the bench, while LaMont Russell grabbed 10 rebounds for the Redhawks.

The Colonels took control of the contest in the first half, shooting 50 percent from the field to take a 36-23 lead at the break.

Despite shooting just 8-of-26 from the floor in the second stanza, EKU still managed to hold on for the three-point victory.

EKU was tenacious on defense, limiting SEMO to just 19-of-52 shooting from the floor, while forcing nine turnovers in the win.
