San Luis Obispo, CA (Sports Network) - Eugene Phelps scored 15 points to lead the Long Beach State 49ers to a 78-72 victory over the Cal Poly Mustangs in a Big West Conference tussle at Mott Gym.

T.J. Robinson added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds for LBSU (12-12, 6-5 BigWest), while Stephan Gilling and Greg Plater also posted 14 points apiece. Casper Ware tallied 10 points in the win.

David Hanson netted 19 points for Cal Poly (8-15, 5-6), while Lorenzo Keeler posted 17 points and 10 assists. Shawn Lewis also contributed 17 points in the loss.

The Mustangs went into the break with a 41-31 lead after shooting 41.7 percent from the floor in the first half. Cal Poly also connected on 7-of-15 attempts from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes of action.

The 49ers stormed back however, as they shot a staggering 60.0 percent from the field in the second stanza, en route to the six-point win.

LBSU shot 50.0 percent in the contest, while Cal Poly finished with a mere 37.7 percent clip from the field.
