New York, NY (Sports Network) - DJ Kennedy scored 15 points and handed out four assists as he helped lead the St. John's Red Storm to a 74-55 victory over the Louisville Cardinals in a Big East Conference battle at Madison Square Garden.
Also scoring in double figures for the Red Storm (13-10, 3-8 Big East) was Justin Burrell with 14 points to go along with a game-high eight rebounds as the team snapped a five-game slide.
The Cardinals (15-9, 6-5) were led by Samardo Samuels with a game-high 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 6-of-12 at the free-throw line as they had a two-game win streak halted.
St. John's scored the first points of the contest and never looked back, shooting out to a 10-0 advantage and eventually a 33-23 lead at the break.
In the second half the lead for the Red Storm reached as high as 25 points as the team shot 58.3 percent from the floor, en route to the 19-point victory.
Louisville finished the night shooting just 41.7 percent from the floor and 9- of-18 at the charity stripe.
