Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Jeremy Hazell erupted for 35 points as the Seton Hall Pirates held of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 90-87, in a Big East Conference battle at the Prudential Center.

Hazell was 12-of-16 from the floor, including 8-of-11 from three-point range. Jeff Robinson added 14 points for the Pirates (13-9, 4-7 Big East). Herb Pope added nine rebounds, while Eugene Harvey dished out 10 assists to go with nine points.

Tory Jackson scored 25 points and added six assists for the Fighting Irish (17-8, 6-6). Tim Abromaitis added 18 points and eight rebounds. Tyrone Nash and Luke Harangody finished with 13 points each. Ben Hansbrough contributed 10 points.

Seton Hall led 49-39 at halftime after shooting 17-of-28 from the floor in the first half, including 7-of-9 from long range. Notre Dame was hot as well, shooting 50.0 percent from the floor.

The Pirates led by 12 early in the second half. Notre Dame rallied, but couldn't erase the deficit. Abromaitis missed a potential game-tying three- pointer with four seconds left in regulation and Carleton Scott missed another at the buzzer.

The Irish played most of the final 8:42 without Harangody, who sustained an apparent ankle injury.
