Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Julius Coles led all scorers with 18 points as the Canisius Golden Griffins topped the Marist Red Foxes, 71-56, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at the Koessler Athletic Center.

Frank Turner and Greg Logins added 16 points apiece in the win for Canisius (12-14, 7-8 MAAC). Turner also dished out 10 assists, while Tomas Vasquez- Simmons netted 10 points and grabbed 11 boards.

Marist (1-24, 1-14) was led by Candon Rusin's 17 points. Korey Bauer scored 14 points in the loss, while Devin Price added 12.

Canisius took a 27-21 lead into the intermission after holding Marist to just 29.2 percent (7-of-24) shooting from the floor in the first half.

The Golden Griffins shot a lackluster 38.7 percent from the field in the second stanza, but were able to convert 15-of-19 free throws to help seal the 15-point win.

Canisius out-muscled the Red Foxes under the rim, winning the rebounding war 37-27, including a 14-7 advantage on the offensive boards.
