Riverside, CA (Sports Network) - David Hanson turned in a career-high 26 points and the Cal Poly Mustangs outlasted the UC Riverside Highlanders, 87-84, in double-overtime of a Big West Conference tilt at the Student Rec Center.

Shawn Lewis added 18 points and seven boards for Cal Poly (9-15, 6-6 BWC) in the win. Charles Anderson netted 13 points, while Kyle Odister had 11.

Kyle Austin scored a career-best 39 points for UC Riverside (9-15, 3-9), while Lateef McMullan dropped 15 points and dished out eight assists.

The Mustangs took a 30-25 advantage at the intermission after holding UC Riverside to a lackluster 34.8 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.

Trailing 66-65, Hanson missed his first free-throw attempt before making the second with 14 seconds left to force overtime.

With the scored tied 77-77 in the first overtime, Hanson missed two free throws with one second remaining and another session was needed.

Cal Poly scored the first five points of the second overtime en route to the three-point victory.
