Carbondale, IL (Sports Network) - John Freeman scored 15 points to lead the Southern Illinois Salukis to an 80-64 victory over the Evansville Purple Aces in a Missouri Valley Conference tilt at SIU Arena.

Kevin Dillard added 14 points for SIU (14-11, 6-9 MVC), while Carlton Fay posted 10 points in the win.

Clint Hopf netted 14 points for Evansville (7-18, 1-14), while Kevan Lacey and Denver Holmes contributed 11 points apiece. Ned Cox chipped in with 10 points in the loss.

The Salukis shot 47.8 percent from the field in the first half and went into the break with a 35-29 advantage.

Southern Illinois pulled away in the second stanza after connecting on 16- of-25 shots from the floor.

The Salukis made 20-of-27 attempts from the foul line, while Evansville finished just 12-of-15 from the charity stripe.
