Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - John Boyer had 18 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists, as the Buffalo Bulls claimed a 70-55 win over the Kent State Golden Flashes in Mid-American Conference play at Alumni Arena.
Calvin Betts added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Bulls (14-9, 7-5 MAC), winners of three straight. Rodney Pierce scored 14 and also grabbed eight boards in the win.
Kent State (18-8, 9-3) saw its eight-game win streak come to an end, as only Chris Singletary reached double figures with 18 points.
Kent State struggled from the floor early on, as Buffalo raced out to an early 14-3 lead. The Golden Flashes went on to shoot just 8-of-25 from the floor in the opening half, allowing the Bulls to grab a 33-19 halftime lead.
The Bulls led by as many as 20 with 13:23 to play, as they shot 55 percent from the floor and knocked down 13-of-15 free throws in the second stanza.
Kent State shot just 34.5 percent for the game and also committed 19 turnovers, which led to 20 points for UB. With the win, Buffalo avenges an 89-54 loss to Kent State back in January.
