Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Tyler Wilkerson registered a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds as the Marshall Thundering Herd picked up an 81-74 win over the UAB Blazers in Conference USA action at Bartow Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for the Herd (18-7, 6-4 CUSA) were Damier Pitts with 11 points, followed by Hassan Whiteside and Dago Pena with 10 points apiece. Whiteside also recorded eight rebounds and four of the team's eight blocked shots as well.

The Blazers (19-5, 7-3) were paced by Elijah Millsap with 13 points and 12 rebounds as the team lost for the third time in the last four outings. Howard Crawford tallied 16 points, Aaron Johnson 14 and six assists, followed by Kenneth Cooper with 12 points and eight boards.

UAB held an early five-point lead in the first half, but the squad shot only 36 percent from the floor and 1-of-6 behind the three-point line in the period, en route to a 29-26 deficit at the break.

In the second half Marshall put the game away with not only 52.2 percent shooting from the field, but also 25-of-31 at the free-throw line in the seven-point decision.

The game was won at the free-throw line where the Thundering Herd held a 30-22 scoring advantage.
