Chapel Hill, NC (Sports Network) - Larry Drew tallied 15 points and seven assists to lead the North Carolina Tar Heels to a 74-61 win over the NC State Wolfpack in an ACC clash at the Smith Center.

Deon Thompson also added 12 points for the Tar Heels (14-11, 3-7 ACC), while Dexter Strickland chipped in with 11 points off the bench.

The Wolfpack (14-12, 2-9) were paced by Tracy Smith, who scored a game-high 20 points in a losing effort. Javier Gonzalez also added 13 points for NC State.

UNC took control of the contest in the first half shooting 46.4 percent from the floor, to take a 33-31 lead at the break.

The Tar Heels pulled away in the second stanza, knocking down 14-of-23 free- throw attempts, en route to a 13-point victory.

Foul shooting proved to be the difference in this contest, as UNC outscored the Wolfpack 19-10 from the charity stripe.
