Harrisonburg, VA (Sports Network) - Denzel Bowles scored 21 points before fouling out to lead the James Madison Dukes to a 76-71 victory over the Virginia Commonwealth Rams in Colonial Athletic Association action.

Julius Wells added 20 points for James Madison (11-15, 4-11 CAA), which got 10 points apiece from Pierre Curtis and Darren White.

Larry Sanders posted 15 points and 14 rebounds in defeat for Virginia Commonwealth (18-6, 10-5). The Rams also got 14 points from Joey Rodriguez, 12 points from Jamie Skeen and 11 points from Ed Nixon.

VCU led 41-33 at intermission after shooting 64 percent from the floor in the first half.

The Rams were held to 30.3 percent shooting in the second half, and the Dukes nailed all 11 of their free throws over the final 20 minutes en route to victory.

James Madison forced 22 turnovers in the tilt, a major reason the squad was able to overcome a 45-26 rebounding disadvantage.
