Niagara, NY (Sports Network) - Rob Garrison scored 18 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Niagara Purple Eagles posted a 70-51 win over the Marist Red Foxes in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Gallagher Center.
Garrison added nine rebounds and a team-best five assists for the Purple Eagles (15-13, 8-8 MAAC) as they won their second in a row and the fourth in five outings. Demetrius Williamson accounted for 14 points, Tyrone Lewis 11 and Bilal Benn 10 points to go with his game-high 13 rebounds as well.
The Red Foxes (1-25, 1-15), who watched their losing streak reach an unbearable 14 in a row, were led by Devin Price with 15 points, while Candon Rusin added 11 and Daye Kaba eight points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
Niagara scored the first points of the afternoon and never looked back, holding Marist to just eight total field goals in the first half to claim a 37-25 lead at the break.
In the second half the visitors again suffered from the floor with just nine baskets, allowing the Purple Eagles to run away with the 19-point win.
The Red Foxes finished the day shooting only 31.5 percent from the floor and 11-of-20 at the free-throw line, all while turning the ball over 17 times.
