Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Robert Covington's double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds led the way for Tennessee State, as the Tigers defeated the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 109-102, in a double-overtime Ohio Valley Conference thriller at the Gentry Center.

Jeremiah Crutcher also posted 24 points and dished out six assists for Tennessee State (7-20, 4-11 OVC), while Wil Peters tallied 16 points, to go along with eight assists. Tashan Fredrick contributed a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards, while Jacquan Nobles and Martell Buie tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Elijah Muhammad netted 26 points and distributed eight assists for Tennessee Tech (13-14, 7-9), while Jud Dillard posted a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. Frank Davis added 17 points, while Alfred Jones and Kevin Murphy chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Golden Eagles shot 46.7 percent from the floor in the first half and went into the break with a 41-36 advantage.

The Tigers clawed their way back in the second stanza by shooting 48.0 percent from the field, and forced the game into overtime.

In the extra session both teams scored 14 points apiece, but the most important bucket was the layup by Covington, tying the game at 89 apiece, while sending the matchup into a second extra session.

The Tigers exploded for 20 points in the second overtime and went on to win by a seven-point margin.

Tennessee State shot 45.7 percent from the field in the matchup and also connected on 37-of-50 attempts from the charity stripe.
