Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) - Brandon Giles scored 20 points and collected seven rebounds to lead the Western Carolina Catamounts to a 75-70 victory over the UNC Greensboro Spartans in a Southern Conference tilt at Greensboro Coliseum.

Richie Gordon added 11 points for WCU (19-8, 9-6 SoCon), while Kendall Russell posted nine points and nine rebounds.

Kyle Randall netted 20 points and collected nine boards for UNCG (5-20, 4-10), while Mikko Koivisto tallied 13 points. Ben Stywall contributed 12 points and nine rebounds, while Kendall Toney chipped in 11 points.

The Catamounts went into the break with a 29-23 lead after holding UNCG to a meager 28.6 percent shooting effort from the floor in the opening frame.

Western Carolina shot 48.4 percent from the field in the second stanza, and went on to win by a five-point margin.

WCU's bench tallied 24 points, while UNC Greensboro's reserves posted only nine points.
