Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Andrew Goudelock hit a pair of free throws with 19 seconds remaining to lead the College of Charleston Cougars to thrilling 73-72 victory over the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a Southern Conference battle.

Jeremy Simmons finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the College of Charleston (18-9, 13-3 SoCon). Goudelock tallied 18 points for the Cougars, who got 15 points from Casaan Breeden.

Donald Sims scored 18 points in defeat for Appalachian State (16-11, 10-5). Josh Hunter tallied 14 points for the Mountaineers, who got 10 points apiece from Kellen Brand and Isaac Butts.

College of Charleston broke an 11-11 tie with a 10-0 run, and the Cougars led 41-33 at intermission.

Brand hit a jumper with 40 seconds remaining to give Appalachian State a 72-71 lead, but the Mountaineers were held scoreless for the rest of the contest.

Appalachian State lost despite shooting 50.9 percent from the field and earning a 41-31 rebounding advantage.
