Fort Collins, CO (Sports Network) - Jimmer Fredette exploded for a game-high 36 points as 16th-ranked BYU dispatched Colorado State, 92-70, at Moby Arena.

Jackson Emery scored 16 points, while Noah Hartsock added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars (24-3, 9-2 MWC), winners in four of their last five.

Travis Franklin scored 14 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists for the Rams (15-10, 6-5), whose three-game win streak ended. Andy Ogide posted 13 points and Greg Smith 11 in defeat.

A 10-3 lead early in the contest staked BYU to a 19-8 edge after two free throws by Hartsock, and a layup by Hartsock gave the Cougars a 25-15 cushion with 6:22 left before halftime.

Back-to-back threes from Jonathan Tavernari and Fredette pushed the BYU lead to 34-20 before a brief Rams surge got the home team within 36-28 after a Mame Bocar Ba jumper.

Fredette closed the half with a deuce for a 10-point margin, then hit one from long distance to open the second half for a 41-28 BYU advantage. He converted a deuce off the break for a 52-37 game less than four minutes in, then drilled a jumper to put the visitors up 65-48 with 11:18 remaining.

It was 72-51 for the Cougars when Fredette connected again from long range, the first time BYU led by 20 or more in the contest. Colorado State was unable to whittle its deficit below double digits the rest of the way.
