NCAA Game Summary - Fordham at Richmond

Final Score: Fordham 56 - Richmond 84

Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Kevin Anderson finished with a team-high 19 points, as 25th-ranked Richmond blew out Fordham, 84-56, at the Robins Center.

Dan Geriot added 14 points and David Gonzalvez 13 for the Spiders (21-6, 10-2 A-10), who are ranked for the first time since January 1986.

Justin Harper added 11 points as Richmond shot better than 52 percent in running its win streak to seven games. The Spiders had not won seven in a row since the 1997-98 season.

Brenton Butler had 17 points, while Chris Gaston added 14 points and 14 boards for the Rams (2-22, 0-12), who have lost 17 straight games. Their last win came on December 8 against Stony Brook.

Fordham sits at the bottom of the conference standings, the only A-10 team without a conference win. However, the school announced Wednesday its board of trustees approved "significant increases" for the men's basketball budget.

The increase will elevate the budget from the lower third to the top third among conference schools, with the goal of making the team more competitive, unlike Wednesday, when Richmond -- the top team in the conference -- turned the game into a blowout by halftime.

A 13-0 run, capped by four points by Anderson, had the Spiders leading 17-4 with 11 1/2 minutes left in the first half.

With under four minutes to go, Anderson's layup made it a 39-19 game, and Richmond carried a 50-28 advantage into the break.

Geriot scored seven straight points early in the second half to boost the Spiders' lead to 60-34, and they cruised to the win over the final 15 minutes.
