Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Samardo Samuels poured in a career-high 36 points to lift the Louisville Cardinals over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 91-89, in a Big East Conference double-overtime thriller.

Jared Swopshire and Edgar Sosa both had 12 points for Louisville (17-9, 8-5 Big East).

Tim Abromaitis scored a career-high 29 points in defeat for Notre Dame (17-10, 6-8). Ben Hansbrough had 21 points for the Fighting Irish, who received 19 points and seven assists from Tory Jackson.

Louisville led 37-36 at intermission after shooting 53.8 percent from the floor in the first half.

The Cardinals shot just 35 percent in the second half, and the score was deadlocked at 67-67 at the end of regulation.

Louisville hit all 15 of its free throws in the two overtime periods combined, enabling the team to claim the narrow win.

Samuels knocked down 16-of-19 free throws in the contest.
