Evanston, IL (Sports Network) - Chris Babb and David Jackson scored 20 points apiece to lead the Penn State Nittany Lions to an 81-70 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats in a Big Ten Conference matchup.

Jeff Brooks scored 12 points for Penn State (9-16, 1-12 Big Ten), which halted a 12-game losing skid. Talor Battle and Andrew Jones added 10 points apiece for the Nittany Lions.

John Shurna and Michael Thompson both scored 17 points in defeat for Northwestern (17-9, 6-8). Jeremy Nash netted 14 points for the Wildcats, who received 13 points from Luka Mirkovic.

Penn State led 36-32 at intermission after shooting 53.8 percent from the field, including 5-of-10 from three-point range.

Over the final 20 minutes, the Nittany Lions made good on 59.1 percent of their shots from the floor.

Penn State knocked down 20-of-23 free throws.
