Huntington, WV (Sports Network) - Hassan Whiteside's 17 points and nine rebounds propelled the Marshall Thundering Herd to a 64-58 win over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in Conference USA action at the Henderson Center.

Chris Lutz added 15 points for Marshall (19-7, 7-4 CUSA). Damier Pitts wound up with 13 points. Tyler Wilkerson finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Ben Uzoh topped all scorers with 22 points for the Golden Hurricane (19-7, 8-4). Jerome Jordan added 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

Marshall led by 11 at the 3:11 mark of the first half before taking a 30-25 lead into halftime. The Herd shot just 32.4 percent from the field in the first half, but was 3-of-8 from long range and 5-of-6 from the line.

The lead changed hands four times in the second half. Marshall never led by more than six until the final minute of regulation. The Herd took 24 foul shots in the second half, making 16.

Marshall finished the evening 21-of-31 at the foul line, compared to Tulsa which was 11-of-13 at the stripe.
