Riverside, CA (Sports Network) - Kyle Austin registered a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds to help lead the UC Riverside Highlanders to a 74-57 win over the UC Irvine Anteaters in a Big West Conference showdown at the Student Rec. Center.

Also posting a double-double for the Highlanders (10-15, 4-9 Big West), as they won for the second time in the last three outings, was Larry Gurganious with 12 points and 13 boards.

The Anteaters (11-16, 4-9), losers of two of the last three, were paced by Eric Wise with a game-high 22 points, followed by Darren Moore with 10 points and nine boards.

UCI shot a mere 30.8 percent from the field in the first half, the team making just 1-of-8 behind the three-point line, as they went into the break trailing by seven points, 32-25.

In the second half UCR locked up the 17-point victory by hitting on 21-of-28 at the free-throw line.

Not only did the Highlanders outscore the visitors at the charity stripe, 24-12, they also held a commanding advantage on the glass with a 47-31 edge.
