Cambridge, MA (Sports Network) - Ryan Wittman poured in 27 points and ripped down eight boards to power the Cornell Big Red in a 79-70 victory over the Harvard Crimson in an Ivy League showdown at Lavietes Pavilion.
Louis Dale put forth 20 points and five assists for Cornell (22-4, 8-1 Ivy), which won for the 10th time in 11 games. Jon Jaques and Jeff Foote chipped in 11 points apiece, with Foote also grabbing seven caroms.
Jeremy Lin paced Harvard (17-6, 6-3) in defeat with 24 points. Kyle Casey delivered 14 points and six boards, as the Crimson had its three-game winning streak snapped.
In the first half, Cornell went 5-of-11 from downtown compared to an 0-of-2 effort by Harvard, as the Big Red held a 43-34 halftime advantage.
The Big Red continued its success from beyond the arc in the second half, making 7-of-12 attempts en route to the nine-point win.
Harvard hit on 32-of-34 free-throw tries on the night, but was outscored from long range, 36-6.
