New Rochelle, NY (Sports Network) - Scott Machado netted 17 points as the Iona Gaels handled the William & Mary Tribe, 69-53, as part of a BacketBuster event at the Hynes Center.

Jonathan Huffman and Alejo Rodriguez each contributed 12 points for Iona (20-8), which won for the third time in four bouts.

David Schneider paced W&M (19-8) in defeat with 17 points. Quinn McDowell added 11 points and Danny Sumner finished with 10, as the Tribe had their four-game winning streak snapped.

Iona trailed 17-13 before ending the opening period with a 23-6 run for a 36-23 halftime advantage.

The Gaels, who outscored W&M 33-30 over the final 20 minutes, went 9-of-21 from long range for the game compared to just a 6-of-21 showing by the Tribe.
