Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Trey Thompkins tallied a game-high 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Georgia Bulldogs to a 76-70 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in an SEC showdown at Stegeman Coliseum.

Travis Leslie also added 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for the Bulldogs (12-13, 4-8 SEC), while Ricky McPhee and Chris Barnes chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Alabama (14-12, 4-8) was paced by Makhail Torrance, who scored 20 points in a losing effort. JaMychal Green also got involved, tallying 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Senario Hillman and Anthony Brock checked in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Georgia got off to a fast start, shooting 48.1 percent from the floor in the first half, to take a 30-29 lead at the break.

The Bulldogs kept the pressure on in the second stanza, knocking down 13-of-20 free-throw attempts, en route to a six-point victory.

The Bulldogs controlled the post, outscoring Alabama 36-26 in the paint, while posting a 39-27 rebound advantage in the win.
