Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) - Phil Turner drained a three-pointer with two seconds left on the clock to give the Mississippi State Bulldogs a 60-59 win over the LSU Tigers in an SEC showdown at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Ravern Johnson led the way for the Bulldogs (19-8, 7-5 SEC), scoring 16 points, while Jarvis Varnado added 14 points, six rebounds and seven blocks in the win.

LSU (9-17, 0-12) was paced by Tasmin Mitchell, who scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a losing effort. Storm Warren also added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, while Dennis Harris chipped in with 10 points off the bench.

Despite shooting just 8-of-22 from the field in the first half, Mississippi State still managed to take a 24-20 lead at the break.

The Bulldogs kept the pressure on in the second stanza, knocking down 6-of-16 three-point attempts, en route to a one-point win.

Three-point shooting proved to be the difference in this contest as Mississippi State outscored the Tigers 30-21 from long distance.
