Normal, IL (Sports Network) - Osiris Eldridge poured in a game-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Illinois State Redbirds defeated the Morehead State Eagles, 71-62, in a Missouri Valley Conference showdown at the Redbird Arena.

Alex Rubin netted 15 points for Illinois State (20-8, 10-6 MVC), while Dinma Odiakosa recorded a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Justin Clark also contributed 10 points in the victory.

Kenneth Faried led the way for Morehead State (19-9, 13-4) by netting 13 points. Steve Peterson and Demonte Harper scored 11 points apiece in the loss.

The Redbirds took a 34-30 advantage into the intermission after shooting a solid 61.9 percent from the floor in the opening half.

Illinois State was able to seal the nine-point win after converting 20-of-27 attempts from the free-throw line in the second stanza.

The conference battle was a sloppy one as the two squads combined for 41 turnovers, including 23 by the victors.
