Stockton, CA (Sports Network) - Troy Gillenwater registered a double-double off the bench with his 18 points and 11 rebounds as the New Mexico State Aggies posted an 84-78 win over the Pacific Tigers in the annual BracketBusters event at the Spanos Center.
Also having strong efforts at the offensive end of the floor for the Aggies (17-9) were Jahmar Young and Jonathan Gibson with 22 and 20 points, respectively, in the team's second straight win and the fifth in the last six outings.
The Tigers (17-9) were paced by Demetrece Young who tallied a game-high 27 points as he shot 7-of-15 behind the three-point line. Sam Willard accounted for 16 points and seven boards and Royal Edwards with 11 points in just 15 minutes off the bench.
Despite missing their only foul shot in the first half, the Tigers managed to put together a 33-29 lead at the break.
In the second half NMSU erupted with not only 63 percent shooting from the floor, but also 7-of-12 on the perimeter and 14-of-18 at the free-throw line, en route to the six-point road win.
The difference in the meeting came at the free-throw line where the Aggies outscored Pacific, 17-4.
