Final Score: North Carolina 67 - Boston College 71
Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Reggie Jackson scored 17 points and Corey Raji added 16, as the Boston College Eagles claimed a 71-67 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels in ACC play at the Conte Forum.
Rakim Sanders chipped in with 14 points to help BC (13-13, 4-8 ACC) snap a four-game slide.
Deon Thompson collected 17 points and nine rebounds for the fading Tar Heels (14-13, 3-9 ACC), who have now dropped nine of their last 11 games. John Henson added 11 points and seven rebounds, while Marcus Ginyard scored 10 in the loss.
UNC jumped out to an eight-point lead four minutes into the game. BC later reeled off an 8-0 run to take a 35-32 lead with 1:30 remaining until halftime, and the Eagles took a 37-36 cushion into the break.
Jackson scored 13 of his 17 points in the second half to spark the Eagles, who led by as many as 10 with seven-and-a-half minutes to play. The Tar Heels cut the deficit to 67-65 on a three-point play by Larry Drew with 1:38 to play, but BC answered with four straight points to push the lead back to six with 31 seconds remaining.
UNC's current skid is the program's worst since losing 11 of 12 during the 2001-02 season. Jackson was placed into the starting lineup for the first time in 10 games, and he responded with a game-high scoring effort.
