Ames, IA (Sports Network) - Khris Middleton notched 14 points, as 24th-ranked Texas A&M clipped Iowa State, 60-56, at Hilton Coliseum.

Donald Sloan posted 12 points, and Bryan Davis pulled down 13 rebounds for the Aggies (19-7, 8-4 Big 12), winners in five of their last six games.

Marquis Gilstrap and Diante Garrett each scored a game-high 15 points for the Cyclones (13-14, 2-10), who lost their sixth straight outing. Craig Brackins poured in 10 in a losing cause.

Gilstrap's jumper a little more than four minutes into the second half gave the Cyclones a 35-34 edge, but the Aggies embarked on a game-changing 20-9 run from there.

Sloan drilled a jumper on the next possession to give Texas A&M back the lead, B.J. Holmes knocked down a trey to make it 45-39, David Loubeau's bucket increased the edge to 51-41, then Holmes' easy lay-in finished the surge for a 54-44 game with 5:58 to play.

Iowa State got back in it with nine straight points, cutting its deficit to 54-53 on two free throws by Garrett, but Loubeau's bucket over a minute later and two from the line by Sloan gave the visitors a five-point cushion with 26 seconds to go.

Davis' layup stretched the Aggies' lead to 15-9 early, and a jumper by Brackins capped an 8-3 run to bring ISU within 18-17 at the midway point of the half.

The visitors once again punched their lead up to six, 29-23, with 1:36 left before intermission on a Sloan deuce, before Scott Christopherson drilled three from the line to get the home team within 31-28 at the break.
