Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Randy Culpepper poured in 29 points to lead the Texas El-Paso Miners to a 78-70 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a Conference-USA bout at the Reynolds Center.

Derrick Caracter added 16 points for UTEP (20-5, 11-1 C-USA), while Arnett Moultrie tallied 13 points, to go along with nine rebounds. Julyan Stone posted 10 points in the win.

Ben Uzoh netted 22 points for Tulsa (19-8, 8-5), while Jerome Jordan contributed a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Justin Hurtt chipped in 15 points in the loss.

The Miners shot a sizzling 58.1 percent from the floor in the first half and went into the break with a 43-26 advantage.

UTEP continued to play well in the second stanza by shooting a respectable 42.3 percent from the field, en route to the eight-point win.

The Miners were solid defensively, and held Tulsa to a meager 37.7 percent shooting effort from the floor.
