Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Ben Stywall racked up a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds, helping lift the UNC Greensboro Spartans to a 59-53 victory over The Citadel Bulldogs in Southern Conference action at McAlister Field House.

Mikko Koivisto added 18 points for the Spartans (6-21, 5-11 SoCon), who snap a five-game slide.

The Bulldogs (15-13, 9-7) brought a five-game winning streak into this afternoon's tilt, but they shot just 38.5 percent for the game. Austin Dahn led The Citadel with 17 points, while Cameron Wells scored 14 and dished out eight assists.

Neither team shot better than 40 percent from the floor in what was a back- and-forth first half, though it was UNCG taking a slim 24-23 lead into the break.

UNCG went on a pivotal 8-0 run late in the second stanza, turning a 45-44 deficit into a 52-45 lead with five minutes to play. The Spartans enjoyed a key 11-3 scoring edge at the foul line in the second half.
