Carlon Brown tallied 13 points in defeat for Utah (12-14, 5-7).

San Diego State led 36-26 at intermission on the strength of 19 first-half points by Thomas.

Thomas misfired on five of eight free throws down the stretch, but the Aztecs still held on for the win.

San Diego State has now recorded five consecutive 20-win seasons, establishing a new program record.
