Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Antonio Hanson poured in a career-high 27 points to lead the Georgia Southern Eagles to an 83-77 victory over the Samford Bulldogs in a Southern Conference tussle.

Colby Wohlleb posted 15 points, and Ben Drayton III contributed 14 points for Georgia Southern. Rory Spencer and Willie Powers tallied 12 points apiece in the hard-fought victory for the Eagles (8-21, 5-11 SoCon). Spencer also blocked five shots, and his 61 rejections this season mark a new program record.

Jeffrey Merritt had 18 points and eight rebounds for Samford (11-17, 5-11). The Bulldogs also got 15 points from Bryan Friday, as well as 14 points apiece from Trey Montgomery and Kaylin Johnson. Josh Davis posted 10 points in the setback.

Georgia Southern led 46-36 at intermission on the strength 17 first-half points by Antonio Hanson.

The Eagles, who never trailed in the second half, hit 15 three-pointers in the tilt.

Georgia Southern earned its first road win in its last 23 attempts, a steak that dated back to January of 2009.
