DeKalb, IL (Sports Network) - Darion Anderson scored two of his game-high 23 points as time expired to lift the Northern Illinois Huskies over the Central Michigan Chippewas, 67-65, in a Mid-American Conference battle at the NIU Convocation Center.
Xavier Silas netted 17 points in the exciting win for Northern Illinois (9-18, 5-9 MAC), while Sean Kowal recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Jordan Bitzer scored 20 points in the tough loss for Central Michigan (13-14, 7-7), while Robbie Harman added 19.
The Chippewas took a commanding 44-29 lead into the intermission after connecting on an impressive 70.8 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half.
The Huskies were able to mount a tremendous comeback as they held Central Michigan to just 5-of-21 shooting from the floor in the second stanza.
Northern Illinois won the battle in the trenches, outscoring the Chippewas 36-16 in the paint en route to the comeback win.
