Tony Lewis added 19 points and 11 rebounds for Illinois State (21-8, 11-6 MVC), which earned its sixth straight win and guaranteed itself at least the third seed in the upcoming MVC Tournament. The Redbirds also got 14 points from Osiris Eldridge.

Carl Richard led the way with 14 points in defeat for Indiana State (16-13, 8-9), which got 13 points from Aaron Carter.

Illinois State led 33-24 at intermission after holding Indiana State to 33.3 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.

Over the final 20 minutes, the Redbirds continued to play solid defense and scored 15 points from the foul line to seal the win.

A 44-26 rebounding advantage and a 23-14 edge in points from the foul line were keys to victory for Illinois State.
