Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Joey Rodriguez scored 24 points as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams defeated the James Madison Dukes, 76-62, in a Colonial Athletic Association showdown at the Siegel Center.

Bradford Burgess sunk 16 points in the win for VCU (20-7, 11-6 CAA), while Ed Nixon and Brandon Rozzell netted 10 points apiece.

Denzel Bowles netted a game-high 31 points in the loss for James Madison (12-18, 4-13), while Pierre Curtis added 11.

VCU held a 37-33 advantage at the intermission despite shooting a lackluster 37.5 percent from the floor in the opening half.

The Rams were able to improve on that mark in the second stanza, connecting on 46.9 percent of their field goals en route to the victory.

VCU's defense was relentless as the Dukes coughed the ball up 17 times on the night, leading to 28 points for the Rams.
