Queens, NY (Sports Network) - Jimmy Butler drained a baseline jumper at the buzzer in overtime, giving the Marquette Golden Eagles a 63-61 win over the St. John's Red Storm in Big East action at Carnesecca Arena.

Butler finished the game with 18 points and eight boards, as the Eagles (18-9, 9-6 Big East) won for the seventh time in eight games. Lazar Hayward headed the charge for Marquette with 22 points and seven rebounds.

D.J. Kennedy tallied 20 points for SJU (15-12, 5-10), while Dwight Hardy posted 12 points off the bench.

Behind 45.8 percent shooting from the floor, the Red Storm went to the locker room with a 29-25 edge.

In the second half, Hayward gave Marquette a 54-51 lead on a pair of free throws, but Malik Boothe countered for SJU by hitting a three-pointer with 19 seconds left to force overtime.

In the overtime, Butler had the ball knocked away, but he recovered it in time to get off a 17-footer to win the game at the buzzer for Marquette.

The Eagles have now won 10 straight over SJU dating back to 1967.
