Athens, OH (Sports Network) - Tommy Freeman's three-pointer with 0.6 seconds left lifted the Ohio University Bobcats to a thrilling 70-68 victory over the Miami-Ohio RedHawks in a Mid-American Conference tilt at the Convocation Center.
Freeman went 6-of-8 from long distance on the night and finished with 19 points for Ohio (16-13, 6-8 MAC), which won its second consecutive outing. De Washington led all scorers with 25 points, while Armon Bassett chipped in with 10 points.
Kenny Hayes turned in 20 points and six boards for Miami (12-16, 8-6), meanwhile, Nick Winbush had 15 points and seven rebounds. Antonio Ballard added 12 points, as the RedHawks fell for the third time in four games.
The RedHawks held a 28-22 lead at the break, as they held Ohio to a miserable 33.3 percent shooting performance from the floor in the opening half.
The Bobcats rallied in the second half and took a 67-66 lead on two free throws by Washington with 22 seconds remaining. Hayes responded for Miami by hitting a jumper with nine ticks left, setting the stage for Freeman's heroics.
Ohio forced 14 turnovers on the night, generating 22 points off those giveaways.
