Boone, NC (Sports Network) - Donald Sims scored 22 points as the Appalachian State Mountaineers prevailed over the Chattanooga Mocs 80-74 in a Southern Conference skirmish at the Holmes Center.

Kellen Brand added 18 points for the Mountaineers (19-11, 12-5 SoCon) who clinched the SoCon Northern Division title. Jeremi Booth added 12 points and Josh Hunter finished with 11.

Ricky Taylor scored 22 for Chattanooga (14-16, 6-11), while Ty Patterson finished with 10. Keegan Bell added 10 assists.

Appalachian State led 35-29 at halftime after shooting 15-of-29 from the floor in the first half. The Mocs struggled from long range in the first 20 minutes, going just 3-of-11.

The Mountaineers were hot from long range in the second half, going 8-of-15 from outside the arc.

Appalachian State shot 48.3 percent from the floor for the evening and was a perfect 9-of-9 from the foul line.
