Cape Girardeau, MO (Sports Network) - Robert Covington poured in 27 points and grabbed 16 rebound as the Tennessee State Tigers held off the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks 74-67 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Covington was 6-of-12 from the floor for the Tigers (9-21, 6-11 OVC), including 2-of-2 from long range, and a perfect 13-of-13 from the foul line. Martell Buie finished with 12 points and Will Peters added 11.

Marland Smith scored 30 points for the Redhawks (7-22, 3-14) to top all scorers. He was just 9-of-23 from the floor but hit five treys, and was 7- of-7 from the line. Cameron Butler added 10 points in the loss.
