Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Tomas Vazquez-Simmons scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Canisius Golden Griffins defeated the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds, 74-62, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown at the Reitz Arena.

Greg Logins added 15 points in the win for Canisius (14-15, 8-9 MAAC). Elton Frazier contributed 11 points and six boards, while Frank Turner logged 10 points and six assists.

Jamal Barney led all scorers with 20 points for Loyola Maryland (12-16, 5-12). Robert Olson added 13 points in the loss, while Brian Rudolph posted 12 points and six helpers.

The Golden Griffins held a 27-21 halftime advantage, as they outscored the Greyhounds 11-1 at the foul line in the first frame.

Canisius greatly improved upon that in the second half, shooting 62.1 percent from the field en route to the 12-point win.

The Greyhounds were unable to connect on the long-range shot, converting just 3-of-18 attempts from three-point land on the night.
