Shamari Spears and Javarris Barnett both scored 12 points in the loss for Charlotte (19-9, 9-5). Phil Jones tallied 11 points, while Derrio Green had 10.

The Colonials took a 39-30 advantage into the intermission after holding Charlotte to 28.6 percent shooting from the floor in the opening half.

George Washington connected on 52.0 percent of its field goals in the second stanza en route to the five-point victory.

The Colonials won the battle in the trenches, outscoring Charlotte 36-20 in the paint.
