Irvine, CA (Sports Network) - Michael Hunter scored 22 points to lead the UC Irvine Anteaters to a 79-74 victory over the Cal State Northridge Matadors in a Big West Conference battle.

Eric Wise pitched in 21 points and 13 rebounds for UC Irvine (13-16, 5-9 BWC), which kept its Big West Tournament hopes alive. Darren Moore added 17 points for the Anteaters.

Kenny Daniels scored 20 points in defeat for Cal State Northridge (10-19, 5-9). Willie Galick tallied 18 points, and Lenny Daniel finished with 16 points and nine boards.

Cal State Northridge missed seven of its 13 free throw attempts in the first half, and UC Irvine led 37-35 at intermission.

Over the final 20 minutes, the Anteaters shot 50 percent from the floor, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, and 14-of-18 from the foul line.

UC Irvine forced 18 turnovers, helping the squad overcome a 41-29 rebounding disadvantage.
