Towson, MD (Sports Network) - Josh Thornton scored 18 points as he helped lead the Towson Tigers to an 81-66 win over the Delaware Blue Hens in a Colonial Athletic Association showdown this afternoon at the Towson Center.
Troy Franklin added 14 points for the Tigers (9-20, 6-12 CAA) as they closed the regular season with back-to-back wins. RaShawn Polk chipped in 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists as well.
The Blue Hens (7-23, 3-15) were paced by Jawan Carter who tallied a game-high 26 points, followed by Adam Pegg and Hakim McCullar with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Alphonso Dawson converted just 2-of-9 from the floor and was limited to five points in 34 minutes of action.
Delaware shot just 37 percent from the field in the first half, including 1- of-4 behind the three-point line, but was able to stay within eight points at the break, 40-32, thanks to 11-of-12 at the free-throw line.
Towson put the game out of reach in the second half by hitting on an even 50 percent from the floor and 16-of-28 at the charity stripe.
The Tigers finished the day with a mere six offensive rebounds and 16-of-31 at the free-throw line.
