Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Trey Thompkins scored 20 points, cleared seven rebounds and handed out five assists for Georgia as the Bulldogs held on to defeat the Florida Gators, 78-76, in SEC action at Stegeman Coliseum.

Also scoring in double figures for the Bulldogs (13-14, 5-9 SEC) were Jeremy Price with 13 points off the bench on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting from the floor, and starters Travis Leslie and Dustin Ware with 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the team's second win in the last three outings.

The Gators (20-9, 9-5) were paced by Chandler Parsons with a game-high 29 points, adding six rebounds, six assists and three steals to his stat line as the squad had a three-game win streak snapped. Kenny Boynton added 22 points and Vernon Macklin 10 in the losing effort.

The Bulldogs were unstoppable from the field in the first half, knocking down a staggering 64.3 percent, including 4-of-7 behind the three-point line, to take a 45-30 lead at the break.

In the second half Florida chipped away with 62.1 percent shooting from the floor of its own, but the deficit was simply too great as the visitors bowed in the two-point setback.

Georgia, which turned the ball over 16 times, finished the afternoon making good on 57.4 percent from the field.
