Cookeville, TN (Sports Network) - Kevin Murphy posted a game-high 22 points to lead the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to a 72-62 victory over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in an Ohio Valley Conference tilt at the Eblen Center.

Alfred Jones added 12 points in the win for Tennessee Tech (14-16, 8-10 OVC), while Elijah Muhammad finished with 10 points to go with six rebounds.

Nick Murphy registered a double-double of 18 points and 11 boards to lead the way for Jacksonville State (11-18, 7-11). Jeremy Bynum and Stephen Hall contributed 17 and 11 points, respectively, in the loss.

Tennessee Tech held JSU to a miserable 33.3 percent shooting from the floor during the opening frame to give the Golden Eagles a slight 29-28 advantage heading into the break.

The Golden Eagles then buried 50.0 percent of their attempts from the field during the second stanza to earn the 10-point victory.

The Gamecocks shot just 36.5 percent from the floor, including a meager 4- of-17 from long range, in the defeat.
