Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Josh White scored 18 points to lead the North Texas Mean Green to a 74-71 win over the UL-Monroe Warhawks in Sun Belt Conference action at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Mean Green (21-8, 13-5 SBC) also received 14 points from Tristan Thompson, while George Odufuwa chipped in with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Collin Mangrum also got involved, netting 10 points for North Texas.

The Warhawks (11-18, 6-12) were paced by Dynile Forbes who scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a losing effort. Rudy Turner added 14 points for UL-Monroe, while Lawrence Gilbert and Tommie Sykes checked in with 12 points apiece.

The Mean Green defense went to work in the first half, holding ULM to just 29.6 percent from the field to take a 34-23 lead at the break.

North Texas kept the pressure on in the second stanza, knocking down 20-of-27 free-throws, en route to a three-point victory.

With the win North Texas clinched the Sun Belt Conference West Division crown and is guaranteed no less than a two-seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
