Jersey City, NJ (Sports Network) - Scott Machado hit two foul shots with six seconds left in regulation to give the Iona Gaels a 49-48 win over the Saint Peter's Peacocks in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season finale for both schools.

Jermel Jenkins scored 13 points for the Gaels (21-9, 12-6 MAAC). Machado added 10 points and six assists, while Alejo Rodriguez pulled down 13 rebounds.

Wesley Jenkins and Ryan Bacon scored 12 points each for the Peacocks (16-13, 11-7).

Saint Peter's led 27-24 at halftime after shooting 43.5 percent from the floor in the first half. The Peacocks led by as many as six in the opening half.

Bacon's layup gave Saint Peters at 48-44 lead with 2:14 left in regulation, but the Gaels scored the last five points of the game. The Peacocks turned the ball over following Machado's final free throws.

Iona shot just 34.0 percent from the floor for the afternoon. Saint Peter's shot only 34.7 percent from the field.

The Gaels enter the MAAC Tournament this coming week as the third seed and will clash with sixth-seeded Niagara on Saturday night at the Times Union Center. The fourth-seeded Peacocks will also play on Saturday, meeting up with fifth-seeded Rider in the quarterfinals.
