Final Score: Drake 40 - Northern Iowa 55
St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Adam Koch and Jordan Eglseder each scored 10 points to lead the Northern Iowa Panthers over the Drake Bulldogs, 55-40, in the quarterfinal round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
Lucas O'Rear and Johnny Moran each had eight points for the top-seeded Panthers (26-4), who have won four of their last five games and are still alive for their second straight conference tournament championship.
Northern Iowa will face Bradley in the semifinals on Saturday.
Josh Young scored nine points and Ryan Wedel chipped in with eight for the Bulldogs (14-19), who beat Southern Illinois in the first round on Thursday and concluded the season with three losses in their last four games.
Northern Iowa trailed 24-23 at the break, but started the second half with a 23-3 run. A bucket by Eglseder to open the second half put the Panthers on top and Moran followed with a three-pointer. O'Rear's layup with just under eight minutes left gave UNI a 46-27 cushion and Drake never threatened from there.
Drake led 17-9 eight minutes into the game and held a 24-13 edge after a three-pointer by Aaron Hawley with just under eight minutes left in the half. The Panthers, though, scored the final 10 points to trim their deficit to one at the intermission.
